5th Martini Colloquium
Scientific exchange on Artificial Intelligence, Healthcare, Robotics and Elec-trochemistry. 18th November 2022
One of IGSSE’s key endeavors is to encourage and promote scientific exchange across disciplines. To enable this, we organise the annual Martini Colloquium, to which we invite all IGSSE members to attend. After a two-year interval of online formats, the annual Martini Colloquium took place again in person on Friday, 18th November 2022 on our premises at the TUM campus Garching-Forschungszentrum.
After a warm welcome from the IGSSE Director Prof. Barbara Wohlmuth and the IGSSE team, the first cohort of the Joint Academy of Doctoral Studies – in collaboration with TUM’s flagship partner Imperial College London – focused on the topic of Artificial Intelligence, Healthcare and Robotics, had the opportunity to present their result after two years of project start to their peers. Check out the presented projects on our website:
- Prof. Nassir Navab (Department of Informatics, JADS 2001 | RoboticCatheter): Non-fluoroscopy-based robotic catheter manipulation and tracking based on machine learning, bioelectrical localization and robotics
- Prof. Dimitrios Karampinos (Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology, JADS 2002 | MoCoQ): Motion-Corrected Quantitative Body MRI
- Prof. David Franklin (Department of Sport and Health Sciences, JADS 2004 | HumanRobotics): Human not monkey robotics: neuro-inspired object manipulation with dextrous hands
- Prof. Klaus Drechsler (Department of Aerospace and Geodesy, JADS 2005 | SMILE): Sensory Motor Interface for Lower extremity Exoskeletons
- Prof. Harald Oberhofer (Chair of Theoretical Chemistry, 14.06 | SPECIFIC): Structure and Properties of Electrochemical Interfaces from First-Principles Calculations
Following the presentations, there was time to discuss and exchange ideas in two poster sessions that were accompanied by the projects doctoral researchers and to deepen the scientific and academic exchange between different research fields. There were lively discussions and exchanges between the participating researchers.
Other highlights of the evening were the welcome presentation by Prof. Katrin Wudy in her role as a member of the IGSSE Board, as well as the keynote address by Prof. Iiulia Yamnenkofrom the National Technical University of Ukraine. She is currently a Fellow at the TUM Institute for Advanced Study and is affiliated with the Chair of Transportation Systems Engineering of Prof. Constantinos Antoniou at the TUM School of Engineering and Design. In her lecture, Prof. Yamnenko dealt with the possibilities and methods of machine learning in the field of traffic management.
The next Colloquium will take place during the IGSSE Forum 2023 from 22nd -24th May at the TUM Science & Study Center Raitenhaslach.
