The event's program featured cutting-edge topics such as Graphs & Networks, Image Processing, Machine Learning, and Optimisation. Over the course of the week, participants engaged in intensive lectures and collaborative project reports, with leading experts in their respective fields delivering insightful presentations on various topics.
Dr. Carlos Amendola (TU Berlin), Prof. Felix Dietrich (TUM), Prof. Stephan Günnemann (TUM) and Daniele Tramontano (TUM doctoral candidate in JADS project LEADS) explored the theme of graphs & networks, including the use of graph theory and network analysis in various scientific and engineering domains.
Prof. Michael Schmitt (University of Bundeswehr Munich), Prof. Felix Krahmer (TUM) and Prof. Ayush Bhandari (Imperial) investigated image processing as well as major advancements in the field, particularly through the application of deep learning techniques.
Dr. Zhongqian Wang (TUM), Prof. Maximilian Schiffer (TUM), Felipe Pagginelli Patricio (doctoral candidate in JADS project N-DAMN), Prof. Tobias Windisch (University of Appliced Science of Kempten) and Prof. Anthea Monod (Imperial) covered a broad range of topics in machine learning, from theoretical foundations to practical applications in various fields.
A number of speakers led sessions on optimisation, which delved into advanced techniques and applications for improving various systems and processes. Among others: Prof. Dario Paccagnan (Imperial), Dan Leonte and Maja Schneider (respectively Imperial and TUM doctoral candidates in JADS project MoPreAnESD), Roan Talbut (Imperial doctoral candidate in JADS project LEADS), Sebastian Zielinski from LMU, Marion Menzel (Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt), Jiayue Fan (TUM doctoral candidate in JADS project DInAMO).
The summer school is an essential part of our qualification program for doctoral candidates to strengthen scientific exchange within the cohort. As such, it also facilitates networking opportunities, allowing participants to build lasting relationships between TUM and Imperial within the joint academy.
