On 20th of February, the IGSSE kicked-off the new cohort of the International Project Teams with five new research teams. The international project teams consist of a principal investigator and two doctoral students each from TUM and the international partner university and are complemented by a postdoc (CPD) at TUM who takes on coordinating tasks.
Throughout the next 5 years, each of the projects receives at TUM a funding of 128.000 Euro, covering one doctoral fellowship of four years, travel costs and research stays abroad for two doctoral researchers, as well as a comprehensive interdisciplinary qualification program for two doctoral researchers and consumables.
The teams were selected following a competitive process evaluating academic work and potential, interdisciplinarity, quality of the suggested doctoral thesis projects and more. Key requirement was the collaboration with an international research partner that complements the respective project team.
These are the projects that succeeded in the IPT Call for Proposals 2023:
- DISAL develops methods to quantify the value of emerging digital technologies in livestock farming in Ethiopia, Kenya and Tanzania. (PI: Prof. Rufino; “Digital Techologies to increase sustainability of African livestock systems under climate risks”)
- HypRTTC investigates wall effects in hypersonic vehicles. (PI: Prof. Stemmer: “Numerical Investigations of Wall Effects on Hypersonic Transition Control”)
- MINDMAP researches methods for traffic prediction that are data-efficient and interpretable. (PI: Prof. Antoniou; “Model Interpretation and Data-centric Modeling for Advanced traffic Prediction”)
- OptiEnv combines energy system models with environmental models to provide a more detailed level of understanding of energy systems. (PI: Prof. Hamacher; “Combination of Energy and Environmental Models”)
- VaxTech develops innovative delivery systems for mucosal vaccination against Helicobacter pylori (PI: Prof. Gerhard; “Developing innovative delivery systems for mucosal vaccination against Helicobacter pylori – VaxTech”)
We are looking forward to collaborating in the coming years!
